Dear Joe &CJ,

They killed Jesus. If you keep it up, they might kill you.

Why? Because, we live in a world where reason is a parlor game, culture is
an hypnotic trance, and society is an exercise in dominance and submission.
"Pro-lifers" are on a dominance trip. They are engaged in an hypnotic dance
that is without reason, and they intend to overwhelm any opposition.

The question is, can we live by reason? Having articulated the policy that
might should not make right, and having had that policy accepted, at least
verbally, by most "civilized" societies on this earth, can we now
*implement* that policy and allow reason to inform our decisions, even at
the most fundamental level.

It appears the answer to that question is we cannot -- we cannot abandon the
passion of (when all is said and done), dominance, the passion of going to
war to fulfill one's destiny and heartfelt purpose. Perhaps we live better
on the edge of death, or at least we seem to prefer it that way. Maybe it's
true that "culture and civilization have not yet begun," as an early student
of human consciousness concluded at the end of his work.
