We are free to find out how our soldiers have trained others to kill people just like us free to not buy fish sticks made of ground up dragger-caught juveniles free also to bring our own children into a world we know is in danger. I sat down to write in deep sadness still reeling from the knowledge that all my efforts have not been enough to prevent evil and destruction. I couldn't have not tried - just had to do something - and the time will come when I will want to once again but just now I would simply like to cry. -Jan Slakov, Nova Scotia, 1998
