So you too have read Gore Vidal's 'Golden Age', hmm? These
secrets were finally released in 1995. What took you so
long? ;-)

Besides, it was really that twerp Truman that set you on the
present path to nowhere very pleasant. Franklin was just
dreaming of Empire and battling against Republicans who
didn't want to play quite that game 'cos of wonks like
Prescott Bush, or was FDR just trying to fit Wilson into
reality?

'Making the world safe for democracy', right? :(

Whatever, how does it feel to live in the most hated United
States of Global Terrorism ever, run by corrupt old Nazis
with no interest in democracy or 'people of colour'?

As you may tell, my anger is boiling over at long last.

Ya Basta!

I'm a slow learner.

Get real. Roosevelt and Truman were functionaries within a
larger power matrix. Don't over-emphasize the significance
of their personal-career maneuvering. World War II was part
of a game plan for world domination - by US-based capitalist
elites - and it succeeded. Here's the outline:

    1) In the 1920s and 1930s: Invest heavily in Japan & Germany;
transfer technology to them; help them build up their
war machine; restrain negative public opinion re/
fascism - encourage isolationist attitude; make a lot
of money in the process; begin making strategic plans
for the war and for postwar domination.

    2) After Japan & German begin their conquest campaigns:
Begin to encourage anti-fascist sympathies; begin
to support anti-Axis powers such as Britain, USSR,
and China; retain isolationist public opinion while
watching closely the course of the war; make a lot
of loans and put the rest of the world in debt.

    3) 1941: Successes of Germany & Japan compel US to accelerate
its own war preparations and to take a more active role
in assisting anti-Axis forces. This requires a war-attitude
by the public - a dramatic reversal of the isolationist attitude
which had been encouraged by propaganda. A provoked 'surprise'
attack on Pearl Harbor was selected as the mechanism by which
       the war-attitude could be generated.

    4) After the attack: Accelerate US war preparations and help for
the allies, but continue to sit on the sidelines, so that
Germany, Russia, Japan, and China could kill one another,
and expend their resources for as long as possible.

    5) After Stalingrad, the tide had turned: US troops finally
enter Europe, with the primary objective of limiting
the advance of Soviet forces. The Cold War had begun.

The fable of "Jack the Giant Killer" serves as an apt
metaphor for the whole scenario. Jack tossed down stones and got
the giants to fight one another. After they were both dead,
he was able to pick up their treasures and walk away.

I don't know; I live in Ireland. It feels good.
