Thanks for this.  I have just returned from a visit to Israel.  I was in Tel
Aviv on the day of the assasination and delayed my move to Jerusalem until
after the funeral.  If Ireland is the periphery, Jerusalem is the nucleus,
with Judiasim, Christanity, and Islam buzzing in orbit.  That so many
leaders of the world were drawn to this event suggests that it is central;
and the issue involved has a lot to do with this rush to change for change's
sake.

My research indicates that around 1970, the root dictionary meaning of
profit changed, from "mutual benefit" to simply "gain," or "advantage,"
signifying the normalization of exploitive practices, as opposed to the
productive practices advocated by Adam Smith, for example, who was not an
"economist," but professor of moral philosophy.
