Life in prison is the mandatory sentence for the unlawful sale,
transport or disposal of a firearm in New Jersey, according to a new
bill passed by the legislature and signed into law by Gov. Christine
Todd Whitman. Wrote Gun Week: "Never before in the history of US gun
control laws has a pure victimless anti-gun law (not involving the
unlawful use of a firearm against another) been so harsh and extreme in
its penalty. One can commit second Degree Sexual Assault or Armed
Robbery without receiving a mandatory life sentence with a minimum of 25
years before being eligible for parole. This new gun control law equals
or exceeds the potential penalties of a non-capital (no death penalty)
Murder Charge."
