Subject: Bill Clinton's Secret Dealings with Iran

The new issue of The Consortium is on the Web. The lead story
describes Bill Clinton's secret communications to Iran -- contacts that
began in the days after the 1992 election when Clinton's foreign policy
team was trying to figure out what the Reagan-Bush administrations had
done with the radical mullahs. While the revelations of the Clinton
contacts could embarrass the President, Bob Dole and Newt Gingrich
might find that the information is a two-edged sword.

The second story -- "Maxwell Mystery: Publisher or Spy?" -- looks at
the death of publisher Robert Maxwell and what secrets it holds about
recent American history. The editorial explores the odd expense of
Whitewater special prosecutor Kenneth Starr spending $3,200 a week of
taxpayers money to get ethics advice, or perhaps more accurately, to
pay to have the news media assured that whatever he's doing is OK.
