Dear cj,

Our last posting, "cj#634> Query re TWA 800", led to quite a little
flame war between Joe Shea and Parveez Syed, which I'll summarize after the
smoke clears a bit. In addition, Parveez has sent in more information
about the TWA 800 case, and has promised to send in some information about
the recent cases of U.S. military planes playing tag with commercial
airliners.

I do believe Parveez gets a bit over-heated in some of his
postings, but he also seems to be a conscientous reporter who manages to
track down sources most others miss.

I'll be on the road a few days... next posting will be from Ireland.

Let me leave you with a question. If it had been a Libyan plane
that had "merged on radar" with a commercial flight, instead of a U.S. Air
Force plane, CAN YOU IMAGINE THE UPROAR AND OUTRAGE AND SANCTIONS that
would have erupted from Washington? And if Khadafi had said "no near
collision occurred", can you imagine the disgust with which this would have
been reported in our media?

Regards,
Richard
