I live a few hours north of San Frcisco, on the coast, comfortably retired.
Paradise.

The world, however, is less fortunate. Fundamental to this sorry state is
the notion of "consciousness." Here is where confusion begins. We think
"the mind" is "conscious," and the body "unconscious." My observation leads
me to believe it is just about the opposite: our autonomic systems are in
good sync with the environment while our so-called conscious behavior seems
unperterbed by revelations of imminent disaster from continuing on existing
paths.

Except in the Bay Area. There, consciousness is higher. However, the Bay
Area is part of California, and The United States, which has a
winner-take-all political system and similarly patriarcal system of property
relations. This environment effectively inhibits consciousness becoming
widespread.

Or at least it puts the brakes on. So I continue on the-alliance list as
the best game in town, even in your absense.
